STI opens center in Calamba

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - STI Education Systems Holdings Inc. has opened its new P340-million academic center in Laguna and is targeting to complete construction of two more before March.

The Tanco-led education firm said it recently finished construction of the five-story STI Academic Center on a 7,397-square meter property in Calamba.

STI said the center could accommodate up to 3,200 students taking courses in information and communications technology, business and management, tourism and hospitality management, arts and sciences, and engineering.

“Calamba is a strategic location, especially advantageous because of its close proximity to Metro Manila without being as highly urbanized, and its greener environment. The development of certain areas in Calamba also brings with it marked improvements in the lifestyles to a growing number of residents, leading to the increasing need to provide certain levels of education,” STI chief executive officer Monico V. Jacob said.

Just last week, STI inaugurated its P250-million academic center in Batangas.

The listed education company said academic centers in Cubao and Lucena would be launched within the first quarter of the year.

“The fruitful operations of STI Academic Centers in Global City, Naga, Fairview, Alabang, Novaliches, Malolos, Ortigas-Cainta, and Caloocan have led STI to steadily take steps towards the growth of the STI network across the country,” STI said.

Besides its academic centers, STI also operates iAcademy, a college that provides specialized and industry-based information and communications degree programs, and the West Negros University in Bacolod City.
