Power firm picks contractor for Palawan projs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Calamian Islands Power Corp. (CIPC), a joint venture of Vivant Corp.’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Vivant Energy Corp. (VEC) and Gigawatt Power Inc. (GPI), has picked Sta. Clara International Corp. (SCIC) as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for its Busuanga and Coron power plant projects after a thorough and competitive selection process.

SCIC will be responsible for the construction of the two power stations: a 750-kilowatt diesel-fired Busuanga power plant and an eight-megawatt bunker-fired Coron power plant.

The two power plants will serve CIPC’s obligations under a 15-year power supply agreement with Busuanga Island Electric Cooperative (BISELCO). CIPC will supply all of its energy output and provide ancillary services to the said electric cooperative.

The Busuanga and Coron power plants are expected to be commercially operational by 2014.
