Malaysia Airlines to add fuel surcharges to published fares

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Malaysia Airlines will incorporate fuel surcharges and YR fee into its published fares on all tickets for travel originating from Manila, Philippines effective July 1.

The airline is introducing this after rollouts in New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India and Singapore, and will introduce this across its worldwide network progressively.

Malaysia Airlines regional senior vice president ASEAN Selvadurai Sinniah said “Malaysia Airlines is committed to ensuring best practices across all aspects of its business.  Fuel cost is part of the operating cost of the airline, and we believe it makes more sense to our customers and trade partners to incorporate it as part of the published fare. This ensures compliance with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) guidelines.”

“This move will also ensure greater transparency for our customers, who will have a better understanding of what they are paying for,”  he added.
