Accenture offers IT cost-cutting measures
MANILA, Philippines - US-based outsourcing firm Accenture has proposed information technology strategies to help companies deal with the pressures of the global financial crisis.
Accenture country manager Beth G. Lui said most companies dealt with the economic crunch by cutting spending. However, she said this is a short-term measure.
According to Lui what is more important is to implement strategies that will help reduce costs.
She said Accenture collaborates with clients to develop a customized and integrated approach to IT cost reduction that is expected to deliver both short-term and long-term cost savings.
Lui said that Accenture has developed a comprehensive framework to save on IT expenditure which involves minimizing, optimizing and redesigning the business.
She explained that this approach allows the company to generate significant savings across all aspects of a company’s technology operation.
Accenture delivery centers in the Philippines is a pioneer and now the third largest in Accenture’s Global Delivery Network of more than 50 delivery centers around the world.
Accenture employs over 15,000 people in the Philippines. Recently, the firm has rehired 100 of the 500 people it laid off early this year.
The major reason for the lay off is for cutting costs in the face of a slumping economy and decline in demand. Philippines is also left back by the other low cost countries, Accenture earlier said.
