Flying V opens biofuel center

-

Flying V, one of the most aggressive small oil players in the country, has opened a biofuel center at the Navotas Fish Port Complex, the country’s premier fish port and one of the largest in Asia.

Flying V chairman and CEO Ramon Villavicencio said they have formed Navotas Dockside Petrol Corp. (NDPC), headed by company managing director Paul S. Tanjutco to handle and operate this flagship station.

The Navotas Fish Port is the traditional landing area for major commercial boats operating in various fishing grounds in the Philippines. Within the complex is a booming fishing industry which supplies fish to major markets in Metro Manila.

The biofuel center is strategically located at the fish port which is visited by thousands of buyers daily, while hundreds of fishing vessels, ranging from giant ocean-going fishing ships to small and medium-sized fishing boats, unload over 800 tons of catch daily.

The oil company said they are seeking to take advantage and promote the use of biofuels in this area where overland vehicles from the different fish producing-provinces unload fish daily.

The Navotas Fish Port has been developed into a giant marine industrial complex not only for fish landing and trading but for fisheries-related industries such as fish processing and canning, ice plants and cold storages.

It is situated on a 47.5-hectare reclaimed land at the northeastern section of Manila Bay. Activities at the port continue 24/7 year-round.

“The entry of Flying V as a locator in the port would serve the huge requirements of the port users for petroleum and marine oils and lubricants,” Navotas Fish Port manager Tito Cosejo said.
