Insurance Consciousness Week 2004 starts today

The non-life insurance industry celebrates Insurance Consciousness Week (ICW) starting today.
The ICW is an annual event, which started in 1999 under Presidential Proclamation and Executive Order 143, declaring the fourth week of May as Insurance Consciousness Week. The ICW aims to make the public aware of the important role that insurance plays in business and in everyones personal life.
ICW 2004 hopes to raise public awareness in non-life insurance even more, as it showcases the different non-life insurance products and services, the industry players and service providers of the industry.
This years celebration is spearheaded by the Philippine Insurers Club headed by Joy P. Carlos, together with the Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) and is made possible through the sponsorship of Insurance and Surety Association of the Philippines (ISAP) in cooperation with DTECH Management, Inc., Blue Cross Insurance and Home Radio 97.9 and DWIZ.
Other insurance associations have also joined to make this years week-long celebration more meaningful: Association of Insurance Accountants in the Philippines (AIAP), Collection Association of Surety and Insurance Companies (CASIN), Reinsurance Exchange Club of the Philippines (RECP), Society of Insurancce Underwriters (SOUND), Philippine Association of Surety Underwriters, Inc. (PHILASSURERS), General Insurance Agents Association of the Philippines (GIAPPI), Association of Insurance Claimsmen, Inc. (AICI), Brokers Association of the Philippines (BAP), Philippine Association of Insurance Liaison Officers (PAILO), Marine Tuesday Club, Junior Insurance Executive Circle (JIEC) and the Insurance Institute for the Asia and the Pacific (IIAP).
The opening ceremonies for the ICW 2004 will be held at the OIC on May 24, to be led by Commissioner Eduardo Malinis and Deputy Commissioner Vida Chiong, together with the presidents and officers of the various associations within the non-life insurance industry.
The week-long celebration will include a blood donation campaign, in cooperation with the Philippine National Red Cross (May 25), motorcade (May 25), Insurance Quiz Bee (May 26), public seminars for agents (May 27, and a Fellowship Night for the sponsoring insurance associations (May 28). An Invitational Badminton Tournament was held at the Metro Badminton Court, Pioneer St., Mandaluyong yesterday. The Philippine Insurers Club provincial chapters-the Cebu Insurers Club, Davao Insurers Club, have similar activities in their respective areas, in support of this years ICW.
