EEI Corp. upgrades to ISO 2000 rating

-
Publicly-listed construction firm EEI Corp. gained further international recognition of its work quality as it recently upgraded its ISO ratings along with a citation from a Japanese industrial giant.

The first Filipino construction company accredited ISO 9001 by TUV Bayern of Germany, EEI has upgraded its certification to ISO 2000 after satisfactorily hurdling all the requirements last January.

At the same time, EEI stood out as the only non-Japanese contractor out of the elite 11 companies cited by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. from among its 2,700 sub-contractors worldwide.

MHI, whose relationship with EEI dates back to the ’70s, awarded the company for completing the on-time fabrication and delivery of power boiler modules for the Okinawa Electric Co. in Japan. These modules were assembled at EEI’s shop in Bauan, Batangas, considered as the country’s leading facility for industrial fabrication.

At present, EEI is working on the next order from MHI for another project covering fabrication and assembly of power boiler modules whose size approximates a 15-story building.

EEI has completed several projects for MHI in both domestic and overseas markets such as the Middle East. Some of these include the 250 megawatt Rabigh power plant, the 350-MW Azzour power plant, the Assir power plant, all in Saudi Arabia, as well as the MRT Line 3 along EDSA.

Another Japanese company, Takenaka Corp., cited EEI for its commitment to quality and on-time delivery for the NAIA-3 terminal project, wherein EEI was responsible for the construction of the elevated roadway, carpark and headhouse.

EEI also completed the main mechanical portion of the Malampaya Gas project spearheaded by Shell Philippines Exploration (SPEX). Conrado Diaz Jr.
