Camp John Hay commercial mall opens in December

Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJH Dev. Co.) will open in December a commercial mall inside the 250-hectare world class eco-tourism Camp John Hay project in Baguio City.

CJH Dev. Co. chairman Robert John L. Sobrepeña made the announcement as he said that camp visitors can easily access basic facilities and service via the commercial mall.

The commercial mall will complement the 189-unit CJH Manor which will operate as a first-class hotel also by December and the 27 country homes. The 109 homes and other facilities are now being rushed for the Yuletide season.

Located at the former administration building, the commercial mall presently houses the recently-opened John Jay Commissary, a duty-free shop offering imported grocery and snack items, wines, perfumes, golf and other sports items.

"All they have to do is to buy a purchase card for P20. The card will entitle them to buy goods worth $25," Sobrepeña said.

Construction of known commercial establishments inside the mall such as Strumms. Dencio Grill, Side Bar and Nike Stadium are now ongoing. Billiard halls, business center and an internal cafe will also be available.

Presently, Camp John Hay has fine dining and recreational facilities already opened to the general public. These are: the Lone Star Steakhouse, where one can enjoy steak, paella, pasta and pastries; Palm Garden Spa that offers therapeutic massage, aromatherapy oil massage, sensational foot therapy and regular massage; Scout Hill Ball Field that can be used for outdoor games; and Chocolate de Batirol, a quaint garden cafe where one can sip local chocolate.

Also for the enjoyment of the public are the picnic areas surrounded by clean air and towering pine trees; skating rink that offers roller and in-line skating; sports and amusement center complete with billiards, table tennis and video games, children’s playground – see-saws, swings, slides and jungle gym; and a snack bar and ice cream parlor.
