From 'TNT' to NFT: Janine Berdin rocks 1st major solo concert
MANILA, Philippines – Eight years after winning "Tawag ng Tanghalan," Janine Berdin finally took center stage for her first-ever solo concert.
The OPM singer-songwriter held her first major solo concert, "Concert ni Janine Berdin," at the New Frontier Theater on October 10, produced by Go Live Asia.
In an exclusive interview with Philstar.com, Janine shared how excitement overtook her usual pre-show nerves as she looked forward to giving her best for a once-in-a-lifetime milestone.
"I am so grateful… I'm so proud that was my first solo concert ever kasi I will never have my first concert again. And I made sure to be at my best, and I'm just very grateful I got to work with the best team ever," Janine said.
"I usually feel so nervous, like nung Awit [Awards]… Like all the time, I get so nervous, but before the show began, I was just excited 'cause I'm really proud of what the team came up with, what we worked hard for," she added.
Bringing a wave of nostalgia to the concert, Janine performed her rock rendition of "Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo," the song that earned her the winning title on "Tawag ng Tanghalan" (TNT) in 2018.
She also reflected on how she had grown more confident and learned more about herself in the eight years since winning the singing competition at the age of 16.
"Ang dami 'cause that was like eight years ago and you were not the person you are at 16 years old. So, I am so different, I know myself more, I know what I don't like, I was traumatized, I grew from it, and I feel like I'm just more confident now and I'm grateful I grew up with good people. I'm proud that I am who I am today and I think that means a lot," Janine shared.
The OPM singer opened her concert with "Antoxic" from her debut album, "Lab Songs ng mga Tanga." She also performed a cover of Evanescence's "My Immortal" and her hit song "What If I Miss You for the Rest of my Life?" before closing the show with "Ayos Lang."
Janine also shared the stage with OPM icons she looked up to, including Kitchie Nadal, Yeng Constantino, Kamikazee frontman Jay Contreras and Adie.
Janine recently won two major awards at the 2026 Awit Awards, taking home Best Ballad Recording and Best Performance by a Solo Artist for "What If I Miss You for the Rest of my Life?"
