Jennylyn Mercado bares personal journey through ‘JEN’ Deluxe album

MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso star Jennylyn Mercado has released the deluxe edition of her album “JEN” under Star Music, featuring two new songs and a short film inspired by her personal journey.
The album, named after Jennylyn’s nickname, contains eight tracks, including the new songs “Tutuloy Pa Ba?” and “Hindi Man Masabi.”
It also includes six songs from her original “JEN” EP, which was released in May 2025 and marked her return to music after a nine-year break.
The tracks are “Paulit Ulit Kang Pipiliin,” “Sa Gitna,” “Hihintayin Kita,” “Kung Nandito Ka Pa,” “Ayaw Pang Umuwi” and “Hindi Pa Rin Sapat.”
According to Jennylyn, the album explores different kinds of love, including love for oneself, one’s craft, family and romantic partners.
“This is a story of love. Iba’t ibang klaseng pagmamahal—pagmamahal sa sarili, pagmamahal sa craft, pagmamahal sa ibang tao, sa partner mo,” Jennylyn said.
She also made sure that the album offers a variety of musical styles to appeal to different listeners.
“Meron kaming medyo dance pang mga Gen Z. Meron kaming love songs, dun ako nanggaling sa hugot love songs so hindi namin inalis yun. Merong masasakit, merong masasaya. Sinigurado namin lahat ng genre meron para ma-enjoy ng lahat,” she added.
Along with the album, Jennylyn released a short film that brings the songs to life through a cinematic story inspired by her experiences.
“Buhay ko ito, kung paano ako nagsimula, ang mga pinagdaan kong struggles at emosyon,” she said.
The short film also stars her husband, Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo.
It was directed by filmmaker Irene Villamor and produced by You Me Us.
