Katherine Luna admits feeling ‘hiya’ accepting Coco Martin’s help
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Katherine Luna admitted that she initially felt embarrassed when actor Coco Martin offered to help her despite the controversies that hounded them in the past.
The former sexy star revealed that she had mixed emotions upon learning that Coco was willing to extend a helping hand, particularly because of the painful history between them.
Coco reportedly shouldered the cost of Katherine’s eye surgery and helped her have her teeth fixed. He has also continued to support her by giving her work.
Katherine is currently part of Coco and Julia Montes’ action-drama series “Sikabo.”
During a recent episode of “Ogie Diaz Inspires,” talent manager and showbiz insider Ogie Diaz recalled how he approached Coco after learning about Katherine’s situation.
“Alam ko namang mabuting tao si Coco. Siya ang nilapitan ko para sa ‘yo (Katherine). Tingnan mo naman, hindi naman nagdalawang-isip ‘yung tao. Talaga, ‘Sige, Kuya Ogs, sabihin mo tutulungan ko siya,’” Ogie said.
He also noticed that Katherine appeared hesitant to accept Coco’s assistance.
“Ikaw naman, nahihiya ka pa. Ba’t ka ba nahihiya?” Ogie asked.
Katherine explained that her hesitation was not because she did not want Coco’s help, but because she was still conscious of everything that had happened between them.
“Hindi naman sa ayaw kong tanggapin ‘yung tulong. Ang iniisip ko ‘yung mga nangyari noon, e. Ano na lang ang mukhang ihaharap ko? Anong sasabihin ng tao? Ang kapal naman ng mukha ko para tanggapin ‘yung tulong after lahat ng nagawa ko,” she said.
Katherine was referring not only to the controversy involving her claim that Coco was the father of her child, but also to the hurtful statements she made that affected the actor and his family.
“‘Yun ‘yung worry ko. ‘Yun ‘yung isa sa mga dahilan ko noon kung bakit nagdadalawang-isip pa akong tanggapin ‘yung tulong. Kasi nga, katulad ng sinabi ko, tanggap ko na ‘yong sarili ko, ‘yung sakit ko,” Katherine said.
In February 2025, Katherine publicly apologized to Coco for her past actions during an interview with broadcast journalist Julius Babao on his YouTube channel.
Coco, for his part, accepted her apology and chose to forgive her.
More than a year after the apology, Katherine has found herself receiving not only Coco’s forgiveness but also his support.
The actress is now part of “Sikabo,” where she works alongside Coco and Julia Montes — a development that highlights how far their relationship has come since their previous controversy.
For Katherine, Coco’s decision to help her despite their troubled past has become a meaningful gesture of forgiveness and compassion.
