Kris Aquino admits she has toned down her 'kaartehan' by 30%

MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino may still be known for her signature “kaartehan,” but the TV host says she has changed significantly over the years.
Kris’ loyal supporters recently celebrated her return to the limelight through Netflix Philippines’ three-part promotional campaign, where she once again showcased the personality and mannerisms that have long made her a beloved figure among Filipino viewers.
In the first two episodes of “C.H.I.K.A.” or “Chief Head of Insight and Kontent Analysis,” fans got a glimpse of the familiar Kris Aquino many have missed on television.
A social media user pointed this out in the comments section of one of Kris’ videos, writing: “lol. gotta love her trademark kris kaartehan that only she can pull off.”
Kris responded by revealing that she has actually toned down her “maarte” personality over the years.
“Will you believe me if I say I am no longer as ‘maarte’ kaya lang for the material to work I need to go back to how I was?” she said.
The former TV host also expressed interest in doing a reality show, saying it would allow fans to see how much she has changed.
“I would love to do a reality show para makita at marinig nyo how much I have tone down, in my opinion by at least 30%. For most maarte pa rin, for me pang school library na,” she added.
The possibility of a Kris reality show immediately delighted her supporters, many of whom have been missing her presence on television and social media.
One netizen, meanwhile, suggested that Kris return to one of her former interests: shopping for jewelry from a luxury brand and documenting the experience for her fans.
But Kris revealed that her interests have also changed as she has grown older.
“I have grown up a lot since then, but my new collection is personalized stationery, note cards and 1.0 gel pens,” she said.
For Kris, writing is more than just a hobby. She said it has become important in helping her maintain control of her hands amid her health challenges.
“I need to keep writing or else I will lose my grip and 3 of my autoimmune diseases that affect the control of my hands will win,” she added.
Kris’ third and final episode of Netflix Philippines’ three-part promotional campaign is scheduled for release on August 20.
The campaign marks one of Kris’ most anticipated appearances in recent years, giving her longtime supporters another opportunity to see the Queen of All Media doing what she does best — entertaining audiences with her unmistakable personality and trademark wit.
