Jake Vargas swears he is a one-woman man
GMA Sparkle artist Jake Vargas has a reputation for being a chick magnet on screen — a far cry from his off-screen personality. IRL (in real life), Jake swears he is a one-woman man.
For those uninitiated, Jake portrays Chito, the eldest of two children of Michael V’s Pepito and Manilyn Reynes’ Elsa, in the GMA Saturday evening sitcom “Pepito Manaloto,” now on its 16th year on TV.
Elsa sees Chito as “matinik sa chicks.” But when not in character, Manilyn finds Jake so adorable, thoughtful and caring. Jake is also faithful to his ladylove. In fact, he’s been in a romantic relationship with actress Inah de Belen for a decade now.
“Perhaps I can say that our love for each other has become deeper, na kahit sobrang tagal na namin magkasama, hindi po talaga nawawala ‘yung love. At hindi po nawawala ‘yung respeto ko sa family nila,” described Jake of his relationship with Inah when he guested on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”
Jake finds his rest and happiness in Inah.
“Siya ang aking pahinga, ang aking kaligayahan, kasi kung wala siya, parang kulang ako, or I feel incomplete if I don’t see her.”
The couple is into cohabitation, with Jake affirming that the romantic arrangement just took place naturally.
“It just happened, Tito Boy. And also, her mom asked if we could do it, and we decided na, yes, we can do it. Doon (living-in) namin nalalaman ‘yung ugali ng isa’t isa.”
I told Jake that the topic was also brought up when Janice guested on the show, which was before his guesting. I remember Janice saying she was initially hesitant to allow them but later realized she had also gone through a rough patch in her younger years. Besides, she is convinced that Jake and Inah are handling their relationship well.
Jake said he would meet Janice during dinner dates with Inah and on special occasions.
Jake also revealed that he and Inah often talk about marriage. The latter would usually bring the topic of settling down with the former, which he would answer with, “Mangyayari.”
“Hindi naman dapat minamadali ‘yun, Tito Boy. Dapat talagang ready na kami (kapag magpapakasal), ‘yun na po talaga,” he explained.
Aside from being an actor, Jake is also a musician. He was once tagged as the Prince of Mall Shows in the early part of his showbiz career. He was discovered by the late German Moreno, also known as The Master Showman, in 2008.
