LTFRB suspends electric vehicle taxi driver over prank robbery

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended the driver of an electric vehicle or EV taxi who drew flak after being involved in a robbery of two vloggers, which turned out to be a prank.
LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II imposed a 30-day suspension on the taxi driver pending the result of the probe.
In a video posted online, the taxi driver announced a heist to his passenger.
He was joined later by two vloggers who acted as prank robbers.
“This is not funny. This has caused fear to commuters who regularly ride taxis and TNVS,” Mendoza said. “We will look into this and we assure the public that disciplinary measures will be done.”
The LTFRB said it would summon Green and Smart Mobility Philippines Inc., which owns the EV taxi whose driver was accused of working with the vloggers to pull off the prank.
