For 6th time, Quezon City gets clean audit

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has again received a clean audit from the Commission on Audit (COA).
For the sixth consecutive year, the city government has received an unmodified opinion from state auditors.
An unmodified opinion signifies that the city’s financial statements fairly present its financial position and compliance with applicable government accounting and reporting standards, the local government said in a statement over the weekend.
“It reflects the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the city’s financial records and transactions,” it added.
Mayor Joy Belmonte welcomed the assessment, saying it shows the city’s commitment to protecting public resources and ensuring that every peso is used for programs and services that benefit the residents.
“Receiving this recognition for the sixth straight year reflects the discipline, professionalism and integrity that guide the work of our city government every day,” Belmonte said. “We view good financial management not simply as a compliance requirement, but as a responsibility to every QCitizen who places trust in us. This achievement inspires us to continue strengthening our systems and raising the standards of public service.”
Now on her final term as mayor, Belmonte reiterated the importance of transparency and accountability in the city’s governance agenda.
“Every tax paid by the people should be matched with honest and high-quality public service,” she said.
