‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ airs as 'Gangs of Manila' in Africa

MANILA, Philippines — The Coco Martin action-drama series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” has reached its African fans as it airs in 41 countries across the continent.
Known internationally as “Gangs of Manila,” the series is being aired on the StarTimes platform in English, Portuguese, and French.
The expansion comes after the program established itself among its international fans during its airing from 2023 to 2026. The show's popularity has also extended to digital platforms, where episode clips have generated significant engagement on StarTimes’ Facebook and TikTok accounts.
The fourth book chronicles the final chapter of Tanggol’s (Coco) journey as he seeks to restore peace and order in the city while serving as its mayor.
"Batang Quiapo," adapted from one of Fernando Poe Jr.'s hit movies, earned multiple honors at the inaugural Philippine Arts, Film, and Television Awards (PAFTA). The series won Best Drama Series, while Coco received the Best Drama Actor award and Maris Racal was recognized for Best Breakthrough Performance.
It ended last March, but Coco will be back on primetime through the action-romance series “Sigabo,” where he reunites with real-life partner Julia Montes.
