"This brings the national average inflation from January to April 2024 to 3.4 percent. In April 2023, inflation rate was higher at 6.6 percent," wika ng PSA ngayong Martes.

"The uptrend in the overall inflation in April 2024 was primarily influenced by the higher year-on-year increase in the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages at 6.0 percent during the month from 5.6 percent in March 2024."

  • alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 4.9% (mula sa 6.7%)
  • housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 0.4% (mula sa 0.5%) furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 3.1% (mula sa 3.2%)
  • health, 3.0% (mula sa 3.2%)
  • recreation, sport and culture, 3.8% (mula sa 3.9%)
  • restaurants and accommodation services, 5.4% (mula sa 5.6%)
  • personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, 3.5% (mula sa 3.6%)

"Food inflation at the national level rose to 6.3 percent in April 2024 from 5.7 percent in March 2024. In April 2023, food inflation was higher at 8.0 percent," dagdag pa ng PSA.

"The acceleration of food inflation in April 2024 was mainly brought about by the year-on-year increase in the vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses index at 4.3 percent in April 2024 from 2.5 percent annual decline in the previous month."
