PhilHealth nasa 'panganib'

MANILA, Philippines - Posibleng malapit na umanong mabangkarote ang Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) matapos ang kontrobersyal na circular na ipinalabas nito base sa bagong payment scheme nito.

 Ayon kay House Assistant Majority Leader and Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles, sinusuportahan niya ang panawagan ni Iloilo Rep. Jerry Trenas na imbestigahan ng Kamara ang bagong payment scheme ng PhilHealth sa pangambang nasa “panganib” ang kalagayan nito.

Sa ipinalabas na PhilHealth circular, itinataas nito ang LGU PhilHealth contributions ng may 100% (mula P1,200/miyembro sa P2,400/miyembro kada taon) ang premium na babayaran ng mga LGUs simula Hulyo ngayon taon..

“This increase makes you think that PhilHealth is in trouble and is no longer financially sound. It’s too drastic an increase. I think that PhilHealth should bear in mind that it was created to be the government’s primary instrument to ensure that quality health care is accessible to all,” ani Nograles.

Sinabi naman ni Western Samar Rep. Mel Senen Sarmiento na napapanahon ang pagsasagawa ng im­bestigasyon upang malaman kung ano ang kasalukuyang financial condition ng Philhealth matapos na mabalita na nasa P141 Million ang nawala sa isang sindikato na nangangasiwa sa kontribusyon.

Sa halip umano na itaas ang premiums ay dapat na maghanap ng paraan ang pamahalaan para mapalawig ang coverage ng Philhealth at masigurong lahat ng Pilipino ay kayang makapaghulog dito.
