Pinoy bibitayin sa Brunei

Isang Filipino graphic designer ang natakdang bitayin sa pamamagitan ng bigti sa Brunei dahil sa ginawa nitong pagpatay sa kanyang Pinay girlfriend noong Mayo 2003.

Ang hinatulan ng korte ng Brunei ay si Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Puzone, 50 anyos, Muslim convert at may 10 taong nakatira sa Brunei.

Ang pinatay ni Puzone sa pamamagitan ng saksak ay ang kanyang Pinay girlfriend na si Vilma Taalal Misal, 25 anyos at isang waitress sa Bandar Seri Bagawan.

Matapos saksakin ni Puzone ang kasintahan nang sugurin sa pinaglilingkurang restaurant nito ay tinangka din ng akusado na saksakin ang kanyang sarili subalit naagapan ng ibang kasamahan ni Misal.

Ibinasura ni Judge Dato Paduka Steven Chong ang katwiran ng abugado ni Puzone na may diperensiya sa pag-iisip ang akusado kaya hindi nito alam na napatay niya ang kasintahan noong Mayo 2003.

"Considering the evidence in totality, we are not persuaded on a balance probabilities that the defendant was suffering from such abnormality of mind as to substantially impair his mental responsibility for his act and we are satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that this was a premeditated and brutal murder and the defendant is convicted of the charge accordingly," wika pa ni Judge Chong.

Sinabi naman ni Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Gilbert Asuque na inapela na sa Court of Appeals ng Brunei ang kaso ni Puzone. Aminado ang DFA na nahihirapan sila sa nasabing kaso dahil parehong Pinoy ang sangkot dito. (Ulat ni Grace Amargo-dela Cruz)
