BOC intercepts P14.2 million shabu hidden in rope shipment

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) intercepted 2,102 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P14.29 million at an international cargo facility within the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) complex on Wednesday.
According to the BOC, the shipment, declared as plastics and ropes, was flagged based on information received from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The BOC said authorities uncovered the shabu hidden inside multiple spools of rope during the physical examination.
The suspected shabu was turned over to the PDEA for laboratory examination and further investigation.
The BOC-NAIA said it remains steadfast in supporting Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno’s mission to strengthen border security and prevent the entry of illegal drugs and other prohibited goods into the country through intensified enforcement and inter-agency cooperation.
