MANILA, Philippines — Pasig mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya has vowed to prioritize assistance for single parents and families with children facing mental health challenges if elected.

Discaya emphasized the need to support vulnerable sectors, particularly amid rising prices of goods and services.

“Life is difficult now. If regular families are struggling with the high cost of living, it is even harder for single parents raising children on their own and for parents of children with conditions such as ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and autism,” she said.

Discaya said she understands these struggles firsthand, as all four of her children have ADHD.

If she wins as Pasig mayor in the midterm elections in May, Discaya promised to boost medical assistance and services for children with mental health conditions.

She also plans to advocate additional benefits for single parents, including higher discounts on basic goods such as food and grocery items, to help them cope with financial difficulties.

Discaya stressed that local leaders must ensure inclusive development so that “no sector is left behind.”
