2 men wanted for rape held

MANILA, Philippines — The sixth and seventh most wanted men in Metro Manila were arrested on Wednesday, the National Capital Region Police Office reported yesterday.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the fugitives were collared in separate operations in Caloocan and Manila.

“The apprehension of these fugitives underscores our unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law,” Aberin said in a statement.

In Caloocan, police arrested the No. 6 most wanted person in Barangay 176.

The suspect, whom the NCRPO identified only as Duenas, is a 27-year-old call center agent who has warrants of arrest for rape by sexual assault and statutory rape. No bail was set for his temporary liberty.

A police team arrested alias Jerald, 36, along San Marcelino street in Ermita, Manila.

Aberin said the suspect, who ranked seventh on the list of wanted persons, has an arrest warrant issued by a Pasig court for statutory rape.

The court did not recommend bail for Jerald.
