MANILA, Philippines - In partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Dusit Thani Manila is presenting puppet shows by the Bangkok-based Aksra Theater.
Aksra’s exquisite performances of traditional Thai puppetry aim to help support and preserve this dying art form for the future generations.
Three puppeteers operate each puppet using finer and more complex techniques than in most puppet dramas.
Each puppet requires synchronized efforts to produce highly animated, graceful and life-like movements.
The Aksra show will be performed by a new troupe of budding Thai puppeteers who have learned the art of traditional Thai puppetry from Thailand’s legendary puppet master, Sakorn Yangkhiawsod, one of his country’s distinguished National Artists in the Performing Arts.
Witness Aksra’s world-class performance showcasing Thailand’s cultural and dramatic heritage while partaking of authentic Thai cuisine at the Royal Thai Restaurant Benjarong on Feb. 26 and 28, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a minimum consumable fee of P750 net. The final performance will be on March 1, 6 to 10 p.m., with a minimum consumable fee of P850 net per person.
Show proper starts at 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 and 28 and 8 p.m. on March 1.
