Wrong word used?

SNIPED. Speculations are rife that whoever killed radio blocktimer Rey Cortes the other day was armed with a long-range rifle, or might even have had training as a sniper.

But already, some people are cautioning against the use of the word “sniper” itself, saying it will create the wrong impression or even cause panic.

Besides, they also say there is really no information yet as to the gun used in the killing.
