President Sergio Osmeña’s appointees in Davao

Don Sergio Suico Osmeña Sr., the only Cebuano who became president, led the rebuilding of the country from the damage cause by the war. In restoring the government he made appointees. In Davao these were his appointees:

Ad Interim appointment as justice of the peace (January 31, 1946)

Vicente Calanoc as justice of the peace of Caraga and Manay, Davao;

Prosperador C. Danao as justice of the peace of Cateel and Banganga, Davao;

Teofilo Osorio as justice of the peace of Capalong and Camanea, Davao;

Heraclio Castillo as justice of the peace of Mati and Lupon, Davao;

Jose P. Cruz as justice of the peace of Monkayo, Davao;

Valerio P. Reyes as justice of the peace of Tagum and Baug, Davao;

Diosdado Renegado justice of the peace of Samal and Pantukan, Davao;

Rafael Santos as justice of the peace of Sta. Cruz, Davao;

Sulpicio Platon as justice of the peace of Sigaboy and Surup, Davao;

Anacleto Cruz as justice of the peace of Compostela, Davao;

Bibiano Luminarias as justice of the peace of Malita, Caburan and Batulaki, Davao;

For local government units:

David Palma Gill, appointed, ad interim, member of the Provincial Board of Davao, February 18, 1946.

Fundador R. Villafuerte, appointed acting mayor of the City of Davao, Davao, February 18, 1946.

Sulpicio Quirante, appointed acting vice mayor of Tagum, Davao, February 25, 1946.

Enrique Codilla, Gualberto Gamao, Demetrio Mensidor and Amado Berame, appointed acting councilors of Tagum, Davao, February 25, 1946.

In 1916, Cebuanos migrated to the Davao Region upon the appointment of the then municipal president of Argao, Antonio Minoza, as deputy governor of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu. In Argao alone, 31,000 transferred their residence to Davao and became the forerunners of what is Davao now.
