Mental break
I took time off over the weekend to clear my mind. The best place to head to was the mountains. It was the vast scenery that calmed my soul and the gentle breeze made my heart jolly. The whole trip was paired with a good cup of coffee which was followed by an all-terrain vehicle adventure to the mountains of Cantipla in Cebu City. It was a trail that I never saw before, too bad the rain had to cut it short but it was a refreshing feeling before the start of the week.
Everybody needs a mental break. I just realized this now after going through so much trauma following the recent developments in the city. The many killings have messed my subconscious that I had nightmares of firearms and gunshots. But I think this just doesn't happen to me as well, young people today become mentally exhausted easily.
There is so much pressure from where they come from --work and school or wherever. Because they are tagged as millennials, those older than them think that they know the solutions and answers to everything needed causing them to be pushed to the limit - thus into a burnout.
That is why it is no wonder why there is job hopping by those my age and younger. They don't feel contentment in what they do because of the demands they can't keep up with. The expectations that they have also set for their ideal mind didn’t materialize, which made it harder for them to keep up.
As the days go by, they pile up all their pent-up emotions that range from disappointment to frustration and eventually leave their workplace. I, too, would also think about escaping from the current job that I am in now and leave everything that I have worked hard for. But then again, the question of whether or not it was worth it keeps on cropping back up. I am also scared to make a wrong decision which I might regret later in life. These are just some of the things that go through the minds of the young adults these days. I'm not saying that no pressure shall be placed on them, for that may also make them futile.
Maybe we can all take it slow, make the push a little gentler so that we may fully understand before jumping to conclusions. But more than that is the importance to take a break once in a while. I have known many friends who were just diagnosed with cancer because of stress, and the age gets younger. We don't want that early on. The best way to avoid this is to de-stress so the body will not emit too much stress hormones which feeds on cancer.
You know, we all deserve a good life. How do we achieve that if we are cut short because of stress that stems from our fatigue, anger, and so much more? Now go ahead, take that break.
