Is the Kuratong Baleleng behind the recent killing of drug personalities in Cebu? For police authorities, there’s no doubt the dreaded criminal group from Ozamiz City is responsible.

Mandaue City Police Office Director Julian Entoma believes the murder of Janelyn Encila was carried out by the Kuratong Baleleng. Entoma theorized that Janelyn and her sister, Jocelyn, who was arrested on March 3 with P60 million worth of illegal drugs, may have ties to the group.

Meanwhile, the Cebu Provincial Police Office also suspects the Kuratong Baleleng are behind the killing of Police Technical Sergeant Mikie Espina, who was gunned down in his poultry dressing plant in Dumlog, Talisay City, a few days ago.

These two incidents happened shortly after Police Regional Office-7 director Brigadier General Debold Sinas confirmed the arrival of hired killers from Ozamiz City. These men, according to Sinas, target police operatives who are involved in anti-drug operations.

For the police, there seems to be conflict within the Kuratong Baleleng group – which has long been involved in robberies and illegal drugs – that resulted in the liquidation of those who have betrayed the group.

With all the killings related to drugs sweeping across Cebu Province in the government’s intensified battle against the illegal trade, many may wonder why the police are only now blaming the Kuratong Baleleng. So, who were responsible for those previous murders?

We all know that the Kuratong Baleleng has long been defeated following the death of its leaders. While its remnants may have continued their criminal activities in Manila and Cebu, they are no longer a force to be reckoned with.

The authorities were believed to have been responsible for the death of many drug personalities in Cebu. With the dead bodies continuing to pile up, bringing Kuratong Baleleng into the picture is surely unbelievable.
