Grave insult to Filipino workers

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III announced that the government’s hiring of Chinese workers in the country is to fill in the gap that Filipino workers cannot and would not do. This is a grave insult to the Filipino workers.

Pray tell me, Mr. Bello, what kind of job that Filipinos cannot and would not do?

He is apprehensive that China would drive away Filipino workers there if we deport these Chinese workers already working in the country whose salaries are double that of the Filipinos. This argument is wholly devoid of logic and common sense. China hired Filipino workers because they are highly-skilled, industrious, and complacent. They do no raise a howl of protest even if they are oppressed and exploited to the hilt.

The problem with the Duterte regime is that it lacks a sense of diplomacy, tact, and nationalism. Even if China has encroached our territory with impunity, we treat them with kid gloves because we are scared of going to war. Who’s going to war, anyway? We have won our case in the International Court of Justice but we chickened out from pursuing our case before the internal arena. We fear of an imaginary war like a dog with a waggled tail.
