For winnability try Ma’am Miriam

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   - The Freeman

The headline says: "Zero tolerance on Edsa." Some people are asking: "Whose tolerance?"

The so-called think tanks in the LP Camp continue sticking to Grace Poe as Mar Roxas's running mate even if Poe has been saying "No, no, no.

* * *

They insist on Grace Poe because of her winnability, as per the surveys. Not necessarily because she got more brains than the other aspirants.

* * *

Speaking of winnability, I have a friend who is not convinced about Poe's winnability. "Why don't they shift support to Ma'am Miriam Defensor Santiago, if winnability they want?" This friend of mine asked.

* * *

He said Ma'am Miriam's winnability in the polls was shown in the 2010 election when she nearly won the presidency. "Even today," he told me over the phone. "Ma'am Miriam is drawing support from the young voters who mob her and cheer her in every college campus she visits," he said.

If geographic consideration is followed in the pairing of candidates for president and vice president, Mar Roxas and Grace Poe cannot go in tandem. So say some thinkers in the beer garden. This again comes from someone who thinks he knows the reason why.

* * *

And why what's the reason? This smart alec says both Mar and Grace come from the same geographic area. Mar from Capiz considered part of Iloilo and Grace was born in Iloilo where she was found as a foundling in the baptistry of the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo City. (This as per newspaper accounts)

It says here that the House is not backing down on the income tax reform measure. This may sadden the BIR and the other concerned agencies, but the measure's authors say this will bring joy to many people burdened by the high cost of living and even the cost of dying.
