Whatever I'm giving to the least of His brethren
If I were a rich man, a taipan perhaps who owns the malls and the biggest banks, perhaps, it would not really reduce my profits for the year, if I give a free NOCHE BUENA dinner for the entire family of all my sales staff and bank personnel, including all the messengers, janitors, security guards and all staff, whether regular, contractual, casual, outsourced or organic, I don't really care. They are all my people. They helped me become this rich. I shall make them come in the large open space in all my malls all over the country and we shall eat with our bare hands, and I will come to share with them in the magic of the moment. Since I have too many malls, I shall assign my children to go and attend all of them.
If I were the owner of the biggest airline and conglomerate with oil, food, beverage, power and construction, I shall give all my personnel an additional day-off and allow them to spend quality time with their families. I shall close all my establishments on Christmas Day and insist that my employees should stay with their loved ones during the holidays. I shall consider it punishable by dismissal for any of my managers and executives to work or to require their subordinates to render work on those days. More than that, I shall make sure that each personnel has his own house and car and I shall give scholarships to their children.
If I were an haciendero, I shall voluntarily offer my agricultural land for coverage under the comprehensive agrarian reform program. I shall make sure that all tenants will get their own piece of land and I shall support them obtain a clean title to their land holding. I shall not use my power and influence to derail the implementation of land reform and I shall gladly cooperate in the redistribution of land to the landless farmers. I shall help the farmers with support for their inputs to agriculture, the marketing of their harvest, and the technology for their planting and harvesting. If I were a rich man I could, and I would make my tenants and workers happy.
If I were the owners of the conglomerate that owns the power generation and power distribution, i shall offer to lower the cost of electricity and power due to the substantial reduction of the prices of crude oil in the world markets. I shall not charge the consuming public for the electricity that are stolen or wasted. I shall maintain my facilities well to avoid fires and other accidents. And I shall not interpose any objection to the shift to solar power and other non-traditional sources of energy. I shall help the government cope with the impending power crisis in 2015. If I were a rich man, I could make millions happier.
If I were in government, I shall do something to the Job Order Workers. I shall declare them employees of the agencies. If I have to amend the law, I will see to it that it shall be done. I will make sure that houses will be built for the homeless and I shall address the unemployment and underemployment problems strategically and with a sense of urgency. I shall refocus the labor migration program by stopping the sending of maids and other unskilled workers. I shall do all these because whatever I do the least of His brothers, I am doing it to Him. I shall give Him these gifts and I shall make His people happy because, after all, I can afford all of these. It is the least that I could do to thank Him for all my blessings.
And when I shall finally face my Creator, I shall gladly tell Him, that on the birthday of your only begotten son, I have done what really matters most to Him.
