We need to know

READER'S VIEW - The Freeman

It was reported in the national TV that the Senate is due to issue subpoena on the list of pork barrel scam collaborators who are in the list submitted by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.

Until now, the Filipino people are still waiting for De Lima to name those lawmakers who allegedly pocketed multi-million peso fund from the Priority Development Assistance Fund or what we simply know as pork barrel. But after a long while that she sat down on the Napoles list, it takes the Senate to call for it to be open to public by way of issuing subpoena.

But how can we be sure that the names of the list of lawmakers who are in cahoots with the affiant, Ms. Napoles, will be the same names that will be made public after a long while that De Lima is keeping it, unmindful of public uproar to have it public?

The Napoles list or some wayward political observers call it "Napolist" is very crucial, as rehabilitation czar said that it may dismantle the entire Senate. We have already expected this, after learning that aside from Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr., some of their colleagues - administration coalition members included - are also in the list.

For the Cebuanos, what we are most concerned of is to know if our congressmen from nine congressional districts are involved in this pork barrel scam. We are waiting for that Napolist to be made public so that we would know if there are Cebuano lawmakers in it.

But again, our waiting for that Napolist to be made public is tied with worries that the list has already been "sanitized" by De Lima. She cannot blame if the Filipino people would suspect her that she is sanitizing the Napolist by deleting names of lawmakers who are allied with the administration, because of the substantial time that she keeps it without heeding to the clamor that she should make it public in the name of transparency.

Some say that the Napolist will surely stir a hornets' nest. Be that as it may, we need to know who were the raiders of the taxpayers' money.
