A gamble called boxing

THE EAR - The Freeman

SHOW TO GO ON. “The death of a 16-year-old student who fell into a coma during a regional amateur boxing match won't prompt the Department of Education to remove contact sports in national competitions,” according to a report from The STAR. DepEd Assistant Secretary Tonisto Umali said contact sports such as boxing would be cancelled only in the regional level and not in the Palarong Pambansa.

A GAMBLE. To this, an Ear informer replied: “Kay sugal man gyud nang boxing. Ma-bata, ma-tiguwang, bisang kinsa'y moduwa, di malimod nga sugal nang duwaa. Mao nang Usahay dunay pilde, Usahay sab daog.” The informer said he, too, is against the banning of the sport in meets. “Kay mao nay nadatu-an ni Pacquaio,” he said.
