My friend and media colleague Loy Jurado wants to know why the security guard at the main gate of the Santo Niño Basilica is armed with an armalite. Loy says the place the sikyu is guarding is not a potential terrorists target, or is it?

Everytime UP and St. Benilde take on separate opponents, I would spend hours watching them play on TV waiting which of them would be the first one to break into the win column.

Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Leonie Delfin of Tagbilaran City for the laminated estampita prayer for cancer stricken persons (of whatever religious faith). They brought it home from Rome (which means they're Catholics) assuring me it's a very effective prayer if prayed sincerely. It is called "The Miracle Prayer."

OVERHEARD. It says here that the thousands of sacks of smuggled rice from Vietnam are still in the Customs bodega. Commented taxi driver's wife: "Daghang mga kuwang sa kaon tang mga kaigsuonan ang buot motilaw anang bugasa." Reply: "Maypa ang uod (ulod) nagsugod na og tilaw sa maong bugas." Another reply: "Wa gyud ko maibog sa ulod. Bahala na'g di ko katilaw anang bugasa basta di lang ko ilhon nga uod."
