Old 2nd Congressional District of Cebu
Unlike today, where the 2nd Congressional District is composed of the following towns: Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian, Moalboal, Alcantara, Ronda and Dumanjug, the so called “Old 2nd Congressional District†from 1907 to 1972 was composed of the following: Cebu (became a city in 1936), Liloan, Mandaue (became a city in 1969), Opon (now called Lapu-Lapu City), Cordova (reestablished in 1912), Compostela (reestablished in 1919), Consolacion (reestablished in 1920). When the Americans arrived in 1899, several towns lost its status and became barrios, and town leaders petitioned for their reestablishment with the governor.

(Atty. Paulino Gullas founded the “The Freemanâ€.)
