No one can score 12-0?

Only a few are heard -- by me--talking about ex-Sen. Ernie Maceda. Even a mediaman who is supposed to be in the know replied when I asked about Maceda's chances: “Is he running?” At least that was a better answer than: “Maceda who?”

* * *

Ernie Maceda used to be a power name to reckon with in the Senate. He's trying to make a comeback but he's not getting a good play in media. He's not even included in the top 15 senate hopefuls.

* * *

Yet, Ernie Maceda has a track record few of the other senatorial aspirants can hold a candle to, so to speak. He had been Senate President and was senator for two terms.

Rep. Tom O has admitted he could not promise a 12-0 win in Cebu for the Team PNoy (LP) senatoriables. Tom ought to be hailed for his admission and for being candid and realistic.

I'm not a political expert but I see honesty in Tom O's statement. I have talked with some experts re the possible result of the senate race. They are unanimous in saying that a 12-0 shutout win for either LP or UNA is “suntok sa buwan” or a punch at the moon.

* * *

An expert said anyone predicting and insisting on a 12-0 win for either LP or UNA is insulting the intelligence of the voters, including those who have learned to go along with GMA-7's “Dapat Tama” campaign.

I heard it on Solar News that DILG Secretary Mar Roxas has ordered all PNP personnel to wear their police uniform when on duty. This is the nth time that I heard cops being told to wear their uniform. I hope this is not the nth time the order is ignored.

The PNP has invited jobless individuals to consider the police service as a career (PhilSTAR, Page 1, May 2/13). A cartoon strip related to this invitation showed a jobless man saying: “When you're desperate to earn money, you either become a criminal or a cop.”

The quote was intended to be a joke, so take it as a joke. “We need to laugh even in the face of financial problem,” says Noy Temiong.

* * *

Tom O's photo in a BOPK ad on page 5, TF, May 2/13, shows him smiling. Could be an indication that Tom O is now certain of victory. It's not everyday you see him smile in photo.

OVERHEARD. After reading the news about the senator's revelation of their riches in their SALNs, a parish priest was heard saying: “Sus, Ginoo, pagkakuwartahan ining mga tawhana.” A sacristan teased the priest: “Mahimo pa man, Pader, mag-senador ka...Duda ko nagbasol ka Dre nga nagpari ka. Hehehe.”
