CEBU, Philippines - A tricycle driver was shot to death Tuesday evening by two motorcycle-riding men who tailed him from Barangay Bakilid up to Barangay Maguikay in Mandaue City.
The victim was identified as Adonis Fortuna, 32, with live-in partner and a resident of Sitio Tikyanin Barangay Banilad of the same city.
Investigation revealed that the victim had just left the vicinity of J Center Mall in Bakilid and was travelling on L. Jayme Street in Sitio Marfa on his way home when he was tailed by the two suspects onboard a motorcycle with no plate number.
Witness accounts said the backrider reportedly began shooting Fortuna from L. Jayme Street until he reached the adjacent Barangay Maguikay where he was hit and died on the spot.
Casuntingan Police chief Senior Inspector Philip Silva said the suspects might have a grudge on the victim as they made sure he would not be alive after.
The victim sustained six gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body while eight empty shells of .45 caliber pistol and one deformed slug were found at the crime scene.
"Murag personal vendetta man gyud ni kay wa man undangi hangtod nga di mahagba ang biktima. Grabe gyud siguro ni kaayo og kasuko ang mga suspek sa biktima," Silva said. (FREEMAN)
