CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Compostela will push through with its plan to put up a commercial and industrial complex and a port at the proposed reclamation area at the back of the town's public market.
Compostela Mayor Joel Quiño said he got the support of the municipal council to continue with the new plan of the town.
Quiño said part of their vision is to convert Compostela into an industrial and commercial center in northern Cebu.
The mayor said he is fast-tracking the implementation of the town's commercial and industrial complex at the back of the town's public market this year. According to him, he has listed down the implementation of the project as one of the top priorities of his administration.
Although he admitted that the municipal government needs funds for its implementation, he said potential investors visited him recently and extended their interest to finance the project.
He also assured those who want to bank on Compostela's growing local economy that the local government will be "friendly" to prospective businessmen.
At least two investors visited the mayor's office and inquired on the mentioned project, he said. (FREEMAN)
