Two “notorious” thieves arrested

CEBU, Philippines - Two allegedly notorious thieves were arrested by the police yesterday morning in sitio Mananga I, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.

Arrested were Louie Diaz, 20, of Mananga, who has a warrant of arrest for a theft case, and Isagani Villanueva, 20, resident of Minglanilla town.

Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Generosa Labra of Branch 23 issued the warrant against Diaz last January 15.

Confiscated from Villanueva was a caliber .38 revolver and seven bullets.

PO3 Ferdinand Pablo, PO3 Benedicto Lasque and PO2 Roy Lofranco went to Mananga I yesterday morning to serve the warrant to Diaz but they saw Villanueva sitting at the roadside.

Villanueva allegedly ran when he saw the police.

The police gave chase and arrested Villanueva.

Pablo said Diaz was a notorious thief and was arrested years ago but was freed because at that time he was a minor.

Villanueva is also allegedly a notorious robber and was involved of some robberies in Talisay.

Pablo also said Villanueva was arrested for possessing an unlicensed gun but was released from jail after putting up bail.  (FREEMAN)
