Consolacion top cop vows to fight hard vs. drugs

CEBU, Philippines - The new chief of the Consolacion police station has assured town officials he will prioritize the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling.

Police Chief Inspector Marlon Ventajar Gumabao acknowledged the invitation extended to him by members of the municipal council who wanted to know about his plans and programs for the town.

Councilor Illuminado Alin briefed Gumabao on illegal cockfighting, or “tigbakay,” betting on video karera, and illegal drugs.

Alin said that he also has heard about policemen being involved in illegal gambling and illegal drugs.

He said there is a need to clean the PNP organization in the town to preserve the good image of the police department.

Gumabao assured Alin and other members of the municipal council that he will look into the report.

He also asked town officials, especially barangay captains, to help the police in their fight against all forms of criminality.

Association of Barangay Councilors President Marilou Casul, on the other hand, said the captains will extend help to the police.  (FREEMAN)
