Two men arrested after robbing puj passengers

CEBU, Philippines -  Police and village watchmen chased and eventually arrested two men for robbing jeepney passengers at knifepoint Thursday at Logarta Street in sitio Mahusay, barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City.

Allaegen Cabusa, 25, of sitio Sector 5 of barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City was on a jeepney from SM Mall for Consolacion town at about 10:22 pm Thursday when two men, who were later identified as Ministerio Rojayme, 25, of Pier 3, Cebu City and Arjay Bonilad of Upper Logarta, Cebu City, got in.

Along Logarta Street in sitio Mahusay, both men whipped out knives and announced a hold-up, grabbing Cabusa’s bag containing P3,600, her iphone, atm card, and some documents.

However, the place where the crime was committed was near the Subangdaku police station.

The police and village watchmen quickly went after the robbers.

Subangdaku police station chief P Sr./Insp. Frank Oriol said one of the suspects, Bonilad, was mauled by bystanders in the area while Rojayme scaled the back of a ten-wheeler truck, with the police and the watchmen on his heels.

Jayme was presumed to have panicked when he got off the truck.

But as soon as he landed on the pavement, a wheel of a different speeding ten-wheeler truck caught his leg and must have crushed it.

Oriol said all the stolen items were recovered and kitchen knives were seized from two men.

Three handrolled marij uana cigarettes were seized from Bonilad.

The robbers are confined at the Mandaue City Hospital and charges are being readied against them.  (FREEMAN)
