Don’t look now but 17-time NBA champion Boston Celtics became the first team in history to go an entire game without attempting a single free throw. Yes folks the Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks combined for a record two free throws with Giannis Antetokoumpo making one in a 104-91 win over the league-leading Celtics. The Bucks committed just four fouls throughout the game. Previously, the low mark had been shared by the Atlanta Hawks in 2014 and the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018. The Bucks Damien Lillard said “Fouls are not part of the game no more, I’ve had time when I thought I was getting fouled”. Speaking of fouls, Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz holds the record of free-throw attempts with 13,188 while Wilt Chamberlain misfired 5,805 from the charity stripe for most free throws missed. Going back to the game,Antetokoumpo was fouled by Luke Kornet while going for a put-back attempt and made one of his two free shots, that was the first and the last time anyone went to the free-throw line in the game. Bucks coach Doc Rivers believed the game was physical which was over in less than two hours, 1:57 to be exact.
