Maiden IBP Cebu Run a huge success

CEBU, Philippines —  The first ever Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu Run was a huge success with 1,700 runners taking part in the charity race starting and ending at Robinsons Galleria Cebu yesterday.

IBP-Cebu Chapter President Michael Francis Hubahib said proceeds of their fund-raising event will go to their legal and medical missions all over the province.

“We conduct free legal consultation for those who cannot affort expensive legal services. Usahay pakapinan namo og medical mission,” said Huhabib. “Last time, natuyok namo ang tibuok Cebu for legal aid pero gasto man gud mag-legal and medical mission so nag-organize mi ani nga run to generate funds for our programs.”

Meanwhile, Jhon Marc Dizon and Artjoy Torregosa reigned supreme in the 21K open division.

Dizon was the fastest of all with a time of one hour, 14 minutes and five seconds to claim the men’s 21K crown, while Torregosa lorded over the women’s side with a 1:34:49 clocking.

Prince Lee (45:10) and Evamie Villarin (52:04) ruled the 12K action, while Ariel Saballa (20:31) and Asia Paraase (23:46) were the top winners in the 6K battle.

Kent Lloyd Lato (10:37) and Gretchen Sambo (12:06) grabbed part of the limelight as first placers in the 3K class.

In the separate lawyer’s category, the top finishers were Benjamin Uy (1:45:45) and Luigine Chan (2:02:51) in the 21K, Jean-Paul Francisco (58:57) and Hazel Caraballe (1:04:04) in the 12K, Karl Rainer Barcenas (39:22) and Marydith Boltiador-Orio (1:34:10) in the 6K, and Ron Christian Eupeña (24:36) and Hannah Mae Blanco (23:44) in the 3K. — EBV
