CEBU, Philippines — Don Bosco Technical College booters copped two final berths after winning their semifinal assignments in the 20th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at their own turn in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
DBTC’s Team 1 scored a lopsided, 7-0, victory over Guardian Strikers to advance into the semis of the under-7 division where they face Consolacion-based KNF squad.
DBTC and KNF figured in a tight battle, but the Bosconians prevailed with a thrilling 3-2 win. DBTC will battle University of San Jose-Recoletos in the finals. USJ-R punched a ticket to the finals after beating Cebu International School, 4-3.
In the under-9 bracket, the Bosconians’ Team 4 marched into the finals after dumping CIS, 4-1. DBTC will take on Canduman booters in the finals after the latter won over KNF, 4-2.
In the girls 18, St.Theresa’s College arranged a finals duel with SHS-AdC with a convincing 6-1 win over Guardian Strikers.
Over at the Cebu City Sports Center, the Cebu Amateur Football Club went off to a good start in the men’s open with a 4-0 win over Carmelitos squad. Avenger FC also overpowered Fridaz, 5-1. (FREEMAN)
