Yamaha to spice up Calambua leg of MS Motosuit motocross series

CEBU, Philippines – Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. has lined up exciting sidelights that include the launching of a special category in the fifth leg of the MS Motosuit Motocross Series billed as the 2014 Calambua Motocross Challenge on October 5 in Calambua, San Remigio town north of Cebu. Supported by Yamaha Off-Road Racing, proceeds of the charity event will be used for the ongoing restoration of the school facilities from the devastation brought about by super typhoon Yolanda.

To spice up the race, Yamaha has added the off-road world category that will be highlighted by the XTZ 125 and Serow 250. Both are dual sports bikes that boast great rides on city roads and on rough terrain.

MS Motosuit big boss Lou Ornopia said Yamaha will be lending 12 units of the state-of-the-art motorbikes to the riders in the novice and expert class.

The other categories to be contested are the mini 60cc and 85cc, beginners, local enduro, open enduro, executive A, B and C, intermediate, and pro open.

The event, which will be participated in by over 100 daredevils from all over the country, will also have a special segment, which features Yamaha's off-road motorcycles with dual purpose, a Yamaha race clinic for kids and a one-make race featuring the XTZ 125.

Before the action-packed show, Yamaha will be in Calambua National High School on October 3 for the official turn over ceremonies of the school’s classroom that was provided with brand new doors, windows, painting and the finishing of a classroom. Another part of the activity will be the giving of educational supplies to students.

Further details of the upcoming motorcycle festival in Calambua will be discussed in the weekly SCOOP-Cebu forum this Thursday noon at the Chay Cheng VIP room of the Cebu Grand Convention Center.
