Wolves ease past Stallions in CSCC E-League caging

CEBU, Philippines -  The Convergys 1 Wolves preyed on the absence of Lexmark star players Sylvester Millevo and Franco Angelo Cipriano to dish out a 58-51 win over the Stallions in the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Convergys 1 actually blew hot and cold but banked on a strong endgame finish to down Lexmark.

Rex Benjie Saje had 16 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and two assists, while Joseph Española cashed in 12 points, four assists and three steals for Convergys 1, which took the solo second spot in Division 1 with a 5-1 win-loss record.

Ralph Loren Martinez and Ville Duero each had 11 points, while Jake Pia and Niel Tiempo connived for 20 markers but their efforts went for naught as the short-handed Lexmark sustained its second loss in six starts.

In the other games, Ariel Ramonito Edera nailed 17 points laced with six rebounds, four assists and three steals as the  Kyocera Frontiers whipped the Sykes Pioneers, 50-45, while the Calltek Trojans eased past the Teleperformance Lions, 49-46.

Eliot Emerson Uy added 10 points and five rebounds for Kyocera, which bettered its win-loss record to 4-2, while handing Sykes its fourth defeat against only one victory.

Al Jairro Magsanay erupted with 21 points on top of three rebounds and two assists as Calltek notched its second win in six games. Teleperformance, led by Rnyl Joey Cagas with 12 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and four steals, dropped to 2-3.

In the other match of a featured quadruple-header,  the Teletech Titans slammed the listless Microsourcing Bullies, 55-40, for its second win in six starts. Celso Jayme topped Teletech with 12 points, five rebounds and two steals, while Evan Michael Perez charted a game-high 23 points for Microsourcing, which is still winless in six games.— EBV (FREEMAN)
