CEBU, Philippines — An emergency responder died while three others were injured after an ambulance from Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte crashed on the national highway inn Barangay Tulic, Argao, Cebu afternoon on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
The fatality was identified as Jules Mackartny Campoy, a resident of Barangay Biasong, Dipolog City. His three companions--Victor Calasang, Jr. 50, ambulance driver; John Estiven Aripal, nurse; and Ronel Adriatico, responder—suffered serious injuries. All of them are employees of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Zamboanga Del Norte.
Investigation conducted by the police revealed that the victims were on their way home to Dipolog City after transporting a patient to Vicente Sotto Medical Center in Cebu City.
While travelling on the national highway, the front tire on the driver’s side reportedly exploded which resulted in the vehicle spinning twice and the driver’s losing control of it.
The victims were immediately transported to Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao but Campoy did not make it alive. He was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Seth Tayog. The three other victims are still being observed at the hospital. (CEBU NEWS)
