CEBU, Philippines — Another tourism destination in Cebu Province has been featured by an international travel blog based in London.
The multi-level Kawasan Falls in Badian town in southern Cebu has been named as the top 6 in the Most Beautiful Waterfalls in the World 2022 by the The Botique Adventurer Travel Blog of an Australian blogger Amanda Obrien.
The blog described Kawasan Falls as the “one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines”.
“It comprises many waterfalls, offering incredible views and a relaxing setting. Watch the multi-layered waterfalls flow, and don’t forget to snap a few shots with the dramatic background,” the blog said.
“Kawasan Falls is surrounded by lush jungle scenery and steep limestone canyon walls. While soaking in the views, take a refreshing dip in the turquoise waters or enjoy a thrilling cliff diving experience,” it added.
The top 5 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, according to the said blog, are (1) Niagara Falls of USA/Canada; (2) Victoria Falls of Zimbabwe/Zambia; (3) Angel Falls of Venezuela; (4) Iguazu Falls of Argentina/Brazil and (5) Yosemite Falls of California, USA.
Then sixth is the Kawasan Falls, the lone waterfalls in the country included on the list.
Kawasan Falls is one of the most-visited waterfalls in Cebu located in Barangay Matutinao, Badian. Maria Lester Ybañez, the Provincial Tourism Officer, expressed elation with such recognition.
“…as always we are very proud to be acknowledged as such. We will try our very best to make sure to maintain if not exceed this,” Ybañez said.
As of now, Kawasan Falls is close to the public because of the ongoing rehabilitation of the said waterfalls after it was badly affected by the typhoon Odette last year.
This time the local government together with other stakeholders are cleaning up the debris and making efforts to improve and maintain the natural look of the said waterfalls.
“Ongoing ang atong pag ayo ug paghimo ug pavements na dili maka guba sa natural look sa Kawasan ug sa pag regulate na unya sa saktong pamaagi usa kini ma ablihan pag usab,” Ybañez said. — GMR (FREEMAN)
