CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government has already started the implementation of another phase of road rehabilitation and concrete-paving activities in mountain barangays.
Councilor Phillip Zafra, chairman of the committee on agriculture, said that the project is one of the government efforts to bring harvests easily to the city’s public markets.
The program is one of the priorities of the city government to ensure ease of travel for city residents and farmers especially in mountain barangays.
He said they are now excited of the benefits of the rehabilitation of the farm-to-market roads.
Target road improvements will be more comfortable that vehicles are regularly plying the route in mountain areas and wanted to experience ease in doing transactions.
Most mountain barangays are mainly agricultural.
The city engineering and agriculture departments, and the Cebu City Resource Management and Development Center are helping the program.
“Gawas sa road rehabilitation, gipaayo pud sa city government ang mga agianan sa tawo sa inner part sa mga barangays,” Zafra said.
He said that bayanihan spirit is being applied also in sitio pathways.
“Mapasalamaton kita sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga nitabang pud sa atong programa, nindot kaayo bation nga nagtinabangay ang kadaghanan,” he added. — GMR (FREEMAN)
