CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) will start implementing next month a modern ticketing system using reloadable cards.
The Capitol has announced that the centralized automated ticketing system at CSBT is set to start on April 15, 2021. This after Topline Hi-Tech and Synergy Corporation has completed the installation of equipment at the terminal.
Topline Hi-Tech and Synergy Corporation is the firm the Capitol has partnered with to supply, install, operate and maintain the automated centralized ticketing system. A dry-run of the new system is scheduled on Monday, March 15.
Sugbo News, Capitol’s news portal, reported that bus companies using the CSBT are required to sign a memorandum of agreement with Topline for easier remittance of fare collected in behalf of the bus lines.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is also set to issue an executive order on the matter. According to the report, all bus companies must have signed the MOA with Topline on or before April 15 otherwise they will be refused entry to the terminal.
Under the MOA, Topline will collect the fare on behalf of the bus companies through the reloadable automated cards. Cards are reloadable through the authorized loading stations or through the partnered online payment like PayMaya and BPI.
The cards also serve as passengers’ access pass to the terminal using the automated turnstile installed at the gate. The new system is seen to be more convenient for the passengers as they will be spared from the long queue in buying their tickets. —FPL (FREEMAN)
