Drugs, love triangle eyed in women’s shooting

CEBU, Philippines - Police are now eyeing illegal drugs and love triangle as possible motives behind Thursday’s shooting incident outside Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center involving two women.

One of the victims has been confirmed to be a minor, 14-year-old Kimberly Dionaldo from Lapu-Lapu City and the other one, who was suspected to be the assailants’ target, Hannah Epe, 27.

Senior Police Officer 2 Wetzel Berry of the Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office said that based on the information from the jail warden of CPDRC, the victims visited a certain Gino Pilapil who was detained for illegal drugs.

With Pilapil’s case, Berry said, illegal drugs could be a potential motive behind the shooting that left the victims in critical condition.

The angle on love triangle, Berry said, is included after they found out that Pilapil had just split up with her live-in partner and now has Epe as his girlfriend.

Berry said they will be meeting Pilapil to get his statement about the incident and to also know what he and the victims talked about upon their visit.

Late Thursday after-noon, Epe and Dionaldo were onboard a motorcycle when they were shot by two men on another motorcycle, just a few minutes after they visited Pilapil.  — (FREEMAN)
